Joshua Garman and Austin Good became brew buddies a little over a year ago, and by this spring they’d forged a partnership. Last week, the tandem signed a lease for a 7,500-square-foot warehouse space on Franklin Street in Tampa Heights.
By next spring, they expect to open Hidden Springs Ale Works, a brewery and tasting room. Garman and Good, newcomers to the hospitality industry, searched for real estate in Brandon, where they both grew up, and Ybor City. “But once we hit this neighborhood, we knew this is where we wanted to be,” Garman said.
Hidden Springs is next door to the newly renovated Rialto Theater and two blocks east of Ulele restaurant, which has shined a light on the section just north of downtown. The budding brewers are banking on continued commercial and residential growth in the area. “We’re hoping to become the neighborhood pub,” Garman said.
