Late last year, newlyweds Hope Donnelly and George Carter II started their new lives together by taking over the long-abandoned, then 88-year-old 10,500-square-foot space on the outskirts of downtown Tampa, which has been the backdrop for a variety of events both public and private — including Avant Guardian’s performance spectacular, Much Ado, dance classes and a handful of first-rate art shows. We hope to visit more events in the majestic space, designed by Francis Kinnard, architect behind such notable historic buildings as the Belleview Biltmore, Hillsborough High School, Centro Espanol and several other local landmarks. May the Rialto’s stately proscenium frame many more shows.
